1. Who we are
Natalie Shirt, a sole trader trading as Advanced Learning Tutoring, of 20 Cloverley Road, Ongar, is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact: natalie@advancedlearningtutoring.co.uk.
2. What we collect
- Parents and guardians: name, email address, billing address, order history, and messages you send us. Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Students: name, username, email (where used for login), course progress, quiz and test scores, and any work submitted through the course.
- 1:1 tutoring students: name, contact details, year group, topics covered, progress notes and resources shared.
- Website visitors: technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, collected through cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
3. Children’s information
Our courses are for children aged 12-18. Accounts are set up and paid for by a parent or guardian. We collect only the information needed to run the course and track progress. We do not advertise to children, do not sell personal data, do not use children’s data for profiling, and do not publish children’s names, scores or work. Parents may ask us to see, correct or delete their child’s information at any time.
4. Why we use your information and our legal basis
- To set up accounts, provide the course and process payments: contract
- To keep accounting and tax records: legal obligation
- To keep the site secure, improve our courses and respond to enquiries: legitimate interests
- To send marketing emails: consent (you can withdraw it at any time)
5. Who we share it with
Only with organisations that help us run the service, such as: our hosting provider (GoDaddy), WooCommerce and Stripe (payments), Microsoft, YouTube, our accountant and professional advisers, and where the law requires us to. We do not sell your data.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK’s approved transfer mechanisms.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and course data: while the account is active and for 12 months afterwards
- Order and accounting records:6 years
- Marketing list: until you unsubscribe
- 1:1 tutoring records: 2 years.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to how we use it, move it to another provider, and withdraw consent. Email natalie@advancedlearningtutoring.co.uk. We respond within one month. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Security
We use passwords, secure (HTTPS) connections and reputable providers. No online service is completely secure, so please keep login details private.
10. Changes
We will update this policy from time to time and show the date at the top.
